NEA Employees on Study Visit to PENELCO
Fourteen NEA employees got to visit an electric cooperative for the first time.
NEA employees enjoy their visit to PENELCO as they were briefed about its operations.
These employees, who have limited field work experience, went on a study visit to Peninsula Electric Cooperative, Inc. (PENELCO) on May 31, 2012, as part of the Orientation Course for Newly Hired Personnel.
With the objective of providing them with firsthand knowledge and experience on the operations of an electric cooperative (EC), participants visited the coop’s main office in Balanga, Bataan and its Samal and Hermosa
Service Centers. PENELCO officials discussed about Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) and its on-line billing and collection. The Office for Corporate and EC Training (OCET) facilitated the visit.
PENELCO was chosen as it belongs to the roster of top performing ECs having been categorized as A+ since 1997 based on set criteria for the electric cooperatives. It is also a pioneer in Information Technology and modern software technologies as far as the ECs are concerned.

Prior to the study-visit, 16 employees attended a one-and-half-day in-house orientation on May 25 and 28, 2012 at the Vinz Café, Penthouse of the NEA Building, where they were informed about the functions of every department and office in NEA.
Dir. Sonia B. San Diego of Finance Services Department informs the newly-hired personnel of the financial aspects of NEA.
