The
United States Agency for International Development (USAID)
conducted a survey of the country’s power. It recommended
the adoption of the rural electric cooperative system as
developed in the United States.
1966
A
contract with the National Rural Electric Cooperative
Association (NRECA) of the United States was subsequently
signed in the preparation of feasibility studies of pilot
projects.
1967
Plans for
the establishment of two pilot projects were completed: the
Misamis Oriental Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MORESCO)
and the Victorias Manapla Cadiz Rural Electric Service
Cooperative (VRESCO).
1969
Passage
of R.A. 6038 on August 4 and founding of the National
Electrification Administration (NEA)
